Hello internet!

I've got four days of work under my belt now, and I think it's going well! Very museum-y. Lots of history. I'm quite pleased.

And the Chief Justice of Canada was there yesterday and I got to give her a mock-Immigration Interrogation! I asked her if she was smuggling any sausages into the country. Yes, you read that right. ;DDD

ANYWAY, HOW 'BOUT I TALK ABOUT TV FOR A BIT?

Ashes to Ashes 2x07 )

And speaking of my ol' friend Auntie Beeb, I thought both the second series of The Supersizers Go... and Casualty 1909 were supposed to air this May. And they didn't! What's up with that? Stop boinging me around like a yoyo, BBC. It isn't nice. :(

But in happier news The Summer '09 Buffy Marathon continues to go swimmingly! Though I've realized that watching season six with two squeeful Buffy/Spike fangirls is just a *titch* tiresome. Afraid my eyes are gonna get stuck in a permanently rolled sort of position. ;P

Who's up for a meme? BECAUSE I'M BRINGING THIS ONE BACK:

When you see a Buffy quote in a journal, post one in yours.

Willow: “Look!”
The floor rumbles as they all stare in horror. We get a close up of Gachnar, and he’s one ugly dude. Gachnar looks up and the camera pulls back to reveal that he is tiny, maybe a half a foot tall, if that.
Buffy: “This is Gachnar?”
Xander: “Big overture. Liiiiittle show.”
Gachnar: “I am the dark lord of nightmares! The bringer of terror! Tremble before me. Fear me!”
Willow laughing: “He – he’s so cute!”
Gachnar: “Tremble!”
Xander bends down: “Who’s a little fear demon? Come on! Who’s a little fear demon!”
Giles: “Don’t taunt the fear demon.”
Xander: “Why, can he hurt me?”
Giles: “No, it’s just – tacky. Be that as it may, Buffy, when it comes to slaying...”
Buffy: “Size doesn’t matter?”
Gachnar: “They’re all going to abandon you, you know.”
Buffy: “Yeah, Yeah.”
We get a shot of Buffy’s huge foot as she stomps down and squishes the fear demon.

HEE. I &hearts you Season Four.
hjea: (buffy-geek translation)
Title: Bliss
Summary: Giles is going to have a great weekend.
Words: 644
Rating: G
Characters/Pairing: Giles/Jenny, in a vague, cute kind of way.
Spoilers/Timeline: Indiscriminate early season two.
Disclaimer: It's Joss's. He said I could borrow.
Author's Note: This clearly stems from the Buffy Marathon I'm currently engaged in, aka, "Squee Over Giles Time." Really, it's all we do. For [livejournal.com profile] xtinethepirate and her growing appreciation of canonical het! Or just her appreciation of how adorably flustered Giles can be. ;) Let's just ignore what comes next, shall we?

Giles was happy. )

Chuuuuuuuuuck! Season two finale flails )

Started a Buffy marathon with first timer [livejournal.com profile] xtinethepirate a couple days ago. We just began season two tonight (what?--season one is short), but I've quickly cottoned on to the fact that this is turning into Squee Over Giles Time (and Spike, yes Xtine). But it's also a fantastic form of nostalgia, and fun, and great showrunning, and despite the ridiculous clothes, Buffy holds up well. I wonder if Joss knew what he was doing when that tiny blonde first took a turn down that alley... and the monsters ran the other way. I'd like to think so.

And I haven't seen tonight's A2A yet! Eep, must go acquire that.

(And just to prove that my life isn't completely tv: ALL BUT FOR GRADUATION, I AM DONE MY UNDERGRAD! *CONFETTIS* I'M SURE IT'S GOING TO SINK IN ANY DAY NOW.)
hjea: (lots-kahlan's hair is epic)
Been pretty busy since the weekend (time I took out to watch LoTS NOT withstanding) but now I can finally post this! Part Three in the Legend of the Seeker = Buffy the Vampire Slayer Picspam. They're not even trying to hide it anymore. :D

Spoilers for LoTS - 1x15 - Conversion )

hjea: (lots-nap time in seekerville)
Thanks to last night's episode, I now have the fodder for what I'm going to think of as Part Two to my Great Cracky Comparison of Richard/Kahlan to Buffy/Angel. Because really, this episode exceeded my expectations. Frakking brilliant, LotS producers. You big geeks. *G*

Spoilers for 1x13 'Revenant' )
hjea: (lots-stop: it's seeker time)
From an interview here with Craig Horner (Richard, on Legend of the Seeker) on the relationship between Richard and Kahlan:

"We kind of have a Buffy/Angel kind of relationship where the whole point is that we really can’t get together. We really want to and those feeling aren’t going away. But we push the boundaries in some upcoming episodes and really that’s all I can say.

BWAH! BUFFY AND ANGEL! I FEEL SO, SO CONFIRMED. :DDD

And also: *points at Craig* NERD!!!!!!!!

Hee hee, my love for that boy has just expanded a LOT. I feel the need to go giggle gleefully somewhere.

And "push the boundaries" totally means sex. I called it. *G*
hjea: (lots-stop: it's seeker time)
So Legend of the Seeker episode 12 was ... )

Which leads me to talk about spoilers and speculation about the 1x13 promo )

Since the world is still spinning merry-go-round-like thanks to my wicked case of vertigo, I mostly sat around on my butt today. Finished a book (The Merlin Conspiracy. I &hearts Diana Wynne Jones and her crazy, crazy worlds), watched some of Our Mutual Friend again (which I've decided is definitely the Dickensian story of two awesome women, and three really creepy men), and, because I'm super cool, knitted a sock for Kermit 2.0

In't he sweet?

If I was smart, I would probably start thinking about what kind of school work I should get done this break but... I'm really rarely smart about these kind of things. Mmm... *stretches*... reading week. :D

WELCOME TO TELEVISION, YOU AWESOME, HIGHLY ANTICIPATED LITTLE SHOW! WILL YOU LIVE UP TO THE HYPE? WE SHALL SEE.

How about a list of my incoherent thoughts. As they happen. SPOILERS )

I spent a good chuck of this evening watching episodes of Buffy to hype myself up for Dollhouse. Extra hype-up, anyway. I was already hyped. And the cold medicine helps too.

But Buffy is awesome. As infrequently as I watch the show now, I still have an enormous love for it. My first love. *g* And I also think season four needs some more loving. I know it's often people's least favourite season, but it was the first season I tuned into! So I have a soft spot. And I'm also one of like four people who likes Riley so I'm sure that helps too. ;) But it does have fantastic episodes in it. "Hush" is still pretty much as terrifying as it was when I first saw it (when I was 12 - there's a scary thought). It's episodes like that, or like Doctor Who's "Blink" that really hit home how much you can do with so little--and how scary that can be. Joss is definitely the master.

And I'm really excited to see that mastery in Dollhouse.

Memes galore.

When you see a Shakespeare quote in a journal, post one in yours.

Be not afeard: the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight, and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum upon mine ears; and sometimes voices,
That, if I then had wak'd after long sleep,
Will make me sleep again: and then, in dreaming,
The clouds methought would open and show riches
Ready to drop upon me; that, when I wak'd
I cried to dream again.
- The Tempest III.2.130-8

And just for kicks: When you see a Buffy quote in a journal, post one in yours.

"Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after."
"Liar."

I do NOT like having my chain jerked around, CTV! Yesterday after the whole "hey, let's bump PD back a day for some special SVU episode" they said that Pushing Daisies would be on at 8 tonight. I know -- I checked! And hey, there's even a whole post about it over at [livejournal.com profile] thepiehole. With pictoral evidence! BUT sure enough, I go sit down, turn on the TV and apparently it's pushed back another hour for CSI: NY! Boo, CTV. Boo. I am not enjoying this.

And no, this is not the most worthy cause to bitch (repeatedly) about, BUT it's just not installing a great deal of confidence in me, if this is how the channel treats the show's scheduling. NED IS WORTH IT, CTV. WE NEED NED.

--

In happier news, check out what place Pushing Daisies got in this poll of LJ's all-time favourite TV shows. Makes me feel better about my SHOW. Also, I both love and am vastly amused by the fact that the biggest OTP of all time is still fandom/Buffy. Oh, Joss. I wonder if you knew what you were giving us when the Buffyverse first twinkled in your mind's eye?

(he probably did)
hjea: (buffy-scooby friendship)
I finally picked up the Buffy comic today and what fun it was! Though far too short - now I need to find out what's going to happen!

Though I must say, some of the 'accents' written for the other slayers made me snort at the cheese. *g*

Hokay, now I've got to finish that Lancelot and Guenivere reading. I hear it ends well! ;)

*hugs her comic*

I missed you, Buffy!
hjea: (the office-jenna fischer quote)
WOW. Joss+The Office squeeing )

I also watched some Buffy episodes today in preperation for Joss+The Office time and because of the awesome!Prof of awesome mentioned yesterday. I ended up popping in season five's "Checkpoint" and listening to the commentary on "I Was Made to Love You" (saddest robot death ever!) *glomps Jane Espenson*. Ah, the enjoyment - it's been so long since I watched Buffy. But I somehow forgot that IWMtLY immediately precedes "The Body" and the end is the teaser of that ep, leading to many woobly, weepy noises made by me and emphatic gesturing at the screen in abject distress. Joss killed me a lot with "The Body".

Anyway, on that happy note - icons! 10 icons from Buffy 5x12 'Checkpoint' )

Anyone else notice that Buffy has really great hair in that episode?
hjea: (buffy-scooby friendship)
My Literary Landmarks class, which is normally not my favourite of classes, had a guest lecturer this morning. And he was a good speaker, very funny, talked about Oscar Wilde and it was generally a good time. Anywho, he was mentioning Wilde's social structuralist tendencies, which in his words means that we formed by whatever tv show we last watched. So I thought: Hee, that's kinda true. Most of my formative adolescent years were Buffy. And then he immediately followed that up with "In other words, we're all structured by Buffy."

CLASS: Ha!
ME: *jawdrop*

So not only is he AWESOME, he's also psychic! And I'm officially in love and will take all classes taught by him in the future. *nods* According to my friend, he also has a Blue Sun shirt! SQUEE!

And now I have Arthur studying to do and more Bones eps to watch. Oh university, how I do love you today.

OH, and Fic Rec! I'm normally not a big slash fan (for I am [livejournal.com profile] hjea, defender of all things canon!) but this: Jim and Ted from How I met Your Mother get married and have babies and it was the Best Thing Ever. For serious. It helps if you've seen HIMYM (which I highly recommend) but I don't think it's completely neccessary. Just... enjoy the awesome.
hjea: (man pretty)
I haven't forgotten about these! Look, two more! And one of these days, I'll even finish the rest.

...Hopefully.

No, I will. *g*

For [livejournal.com profile] goldy_dollar Firefly: Mal's birthday cake has disastrous results Vomit. Vomit. Come in, please! Vomit. )

And for [livejournal.com profile] robyn_1221: Spuffy. Well, kinda. You'll see. Sorry Robyn. )

ICONS!

Buffy icons specifically. Season three even more specifically. Well, actually they're mostly from Ear Shot (another one of my very favourite episodes) but hopefully they're nice all the same, specific though they are.

.1 Buffy is all of us. We think; therefore she is. )

Hopefully this might get the creative juices flowing again.

*think, think, think*
hjea: (numfar - dance of joy)
Ha ha ha! *dance of victory* I've just handed in my last essay of my first year of university and the done the first (Well, first half. Silly Spanish and its two-part exams) of my finals! Granted, I still have much more to do - but the end is in sight! Makes me feel excited! Makes me feel elated! Makes me feel... old. I'm almost done my first year of university. Yikes. I wonder how old I'll feel when I'm done the fourth? But I'm still happy that it's wrapping itself up.

So, to really celebrate this special moment, I'm going to post some icons. Because isn't that what everyone does when they're happy?

I recently discovered when I was reorginaizing my icon files on photobucket ("Hi, I'm anal-retentive. And you are?") that my 'Buffy' section is sadly under represented. I decided that this was a travesty that desperately needed to be rectified. Because although my Buffy!obsession has cooled off in the last few years since it ended, it was still my first love, my first foray into the exciting world of fandom and it needs to be honoured. And therefore, I went back to the beginning to icon Buffy. Except that by beginning I mean season two. 'Cause I like season two more than one. But you get the idea.

.1 Unto each generation a Slayer is born. A Chosen One, one born with the strength and skill to hunt the vampires, to stop the spread of their evil blah, blah, blah... I've heard it, okay? )

*sigh* I do wish that I had the userpic space to fill up with icons but as it is, I'll just have to be content with making them obsessively for no discernable purpose. Unless lj wants to amp up my space... (*wink, wink, nudge, nudge*) But until that time, this is fun enough.

Good day.
