it’s been nine years and twenty seven days since the pilot of pushing daisies aired on television and still no screenwriter has ever topped the line “bitch I was in proximity”

24 icons

hjea: (a2a-alex hopes you're happy)
I last posted icons in September. Wow. Maybe my other resolution should be to make more icons. Or do more fandom things in general. Because I really need to talk about television more than I already do. ;)

[1-4] Ashes to Ashes
[5-6] Chuck
[7-9] Little Dorrit
[10-13] Pushing Daisies
[14-17] Supernatural
[18-22] The Office
[23-24] Wonderfalls

More here )

Toronto is rainy and vaguely warmish, so pretty much like Halifax. I'm driving to Ottawa tomorrow with my cousin (we'll be there for about an hour, see my friend, pick up my other cousin and the baby, and then drive back, oy gevalt) so I hope that I'll at least get to glimpse snow there! But there's still 10 days until Christmas, so I'm optimistic that some fluffy white stuff will show up before then. This is the only time of year I'm partial towards snow, winter! Don't disappoint me now.

You remember how nearly a year ago now, the Robin Hood writers decided to be "shocking" and kill off Marian? Yeah. Well, every time I feel I've pretty much come to terms with it, I let myself go and watch old episodes, and read fic, and then get really irrationally upset again. IT WAS SO GOOD (especially all the fic). AND IT WAS FUN. AND REALLY, REALLY ROMANTIC AND HOT AND LOVELY (cuz have you seen Jonas and Lucy?) AND THEN THEY RUINED IT. AND I STILL DON'T KNOW WHYYYYYYYYYYYY.

And now it's got me wondering if it's why I'm so reluctant to watch Merlin. Because I've been burned by cheesy, horribly anachronistic, retellings of British legends before, and oh yes, they start all sweet and innocent and we-would-never-do-anything-see-how-fun-and-non-serious-we-are-here-have-a-unicorn AND THEN THEY BREAK YOUR HEART. (Not to scare off any Merlin fans, I really hope you keep enjoying it. And I'm sure the BBC would never take another something silly and fun and effervescent and then... You know this totally doesn't work 'cause y'all are Who fans too. YOU KNOW HOW IT IS. BE PREPARED.)

So Robin Hood heartbreak still in place? Check. Tried to turn to Life on Mars for a balm, but then of course you have the Ashes to Ashes Spoilers ).

So I could turn to American television, except The Office has been kind of disappointing of late, and Chuck is sweet and fun but nothing too substantial and Pushing Daisies is WONDERFUL and is better and better with each episode but I can't watch it now without constantly reminding myself that its expiry date is completely un-cheeto like and is instead fast-approaching.

SO... Robin Hood breaks my heart, Life on Mars just makes me wibbly, American tv is a wash, Slings and Arrows is over and done so let's not get into the Canadian options, and REALLY IS IT ANY WONDER I CONSTANTLY CYCLE BACK TO MINISERIES AND YES THAT MEANS OH, MR. CLENHAM, I MISS YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU! Yeah that whole "I'm not going to talk about Little Dorrit anymore after it finishes" was a total lie.

The obvious solution would be to give up on tv all together but... pfft. Like that's going to happen. ;) No, I'll just read more fic, and watch Robin/Marian scenes of awesome super-spyness, and remember that when it was good, it was good.

(And fervently hope that Jonas and Lucy have future projects together, with 100% more hot make-outs and 100% less stupid death. *G*)

high kicks

hjea: (bbc-sincerely your little dorrit)
Yeah, so I'm back to talking about Little Dorrit again.

Episode 11 )

One thing I'm confused about: the show usually airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays, but this week the Beeb website says the episode is airing tonight. But it says Scotland only. Does that mean we, the general public downloaders and hackers of iPlayer excellence, won't get episode 12 this week? And if so, when is it airing?? I WANT IT NOW.

Wow, this week has made me whiny. *g*

And Pushing Daisies was excellent! (obligatory why-oh-why moment) Olive just... Kristin Chenoweth is my hero. Going head to head with Muffin Buffalo (who seems to have had success outside the trailer park) and singing and detecting and... Emerson! And Lily! And Chuck--oh, it's all so fantastic and cliff-hangy and I want more.
Though you know really my favourite part was the plastic-wrapped spooning. ;)

The Office was so-so for this episode, but I did get a kick out of Dwight's wedding plans. Yeah. Like that was going to go over well.

TELEVISION IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN UNIVERSITY.

ETA: BWA. Now I feel vindicated: BBC Receives Thousands of Complaints After Dropping Little Dorrit for Shannon Matthews documentary (as in, not cancelled, just pre-empted) AND TOO RIGHT TOO. I kind of love how the rest of the article is one big complaint about the Beeb's scheduling shenanigans. *firm nod*

Now... where's my Episode 12??!!
hjea: (pd-bitchy crosstown express)
I think it's starting to really sink in now.

THEY CANCELLED MY FRICKEN SHOW. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Someone linked to a video at [livejournal.com profile] thepiehole just now with Kristen Chenoweth saying she had just found out about the cancellation, and adding that Pushing Daisies was one of the happiest working experiences of her life and I just do not understand why no one would watch (except you guys and almost everyone else on the internet and the EMMY COMMITTEE) this wonderful, original, exciting, gorgeous, funny and loving show. DON'T YOU LOVE PIE, WORLD? DON'T YOU???!!!

I can't believe that in only 7 more episodes it's going to be over.
hjea: (pd-it's the gang!)
YAY !!!! APPARENTLY PUSHING DAISIES GOT PICKED UP FOR A WHOLE SEASON. THAT IS SUCH A RELIEF FROM WORRY. ALSO, CLEARLY THE RIGHT CHOICE, ABC.

My shows should not get cancelled more often. :D

Nevermind. That'll teach me to not read things thoroughly.

I SHOULD JUST GO AND RENEW IT MYSELF.
hjea: (pd-cellophane FTW!)
I'm crazy, I know it. But my love for this episode just overflowed into lengthy photoshop + fangirl squeelage. And it should probably be shared with the world. Or hidden from the world. Either one. ;DDD

French Parisian Living! )

I probably won't be doing that again too soon, as it took more time than I should be allowing for things I'm not being graded on. But still fun. :D

All caps are mine. Originals here.
hjea: (pd-cellophane FTW!)
Okay, I've only got a FEW things to say about Pushing Daisies - 2x01 - "Bzz"

Ned! Chuck! Olive! Emerson! DIGBY! )

So... not so much with the brief then. *G*
hjea: (pd-honey & death)
Happy Pushing Daisies Day everyone!

(One of these pies is for the lovely [livejournal.com profile] xtinethepirate, who is letting me come over tonight to watch the SEASON TWO PREMIERE!OMG because networks are stupid and CTV isn't showing it anymore and therefore my show is no longer bunny-ears friendly)

BUT, I hope those who're are going to watch it, either today or tomorrow, enjoy it! I know I will, though how could I not? Ned! Chuck! Olive! Emerson! DIGBY!

...I can't believe I've lasted since December. ;D
hjea: (office-jim loves you)
It's been AWHILE since I cleared out and posted some icons. Of course... there may be a very good reason for that.

[1-3] Ashes to Ashes
[4,5] Bones
[6,7] Chuck
[8-10] Doctor Who
[11,12] How I Met Your Mother
[13] Pushing Daisies cast
[14] Robin Hood
[15-17] Supernatural
[18-21] The Office
[22,23] Our Mutual Friend
[24, 25] Crossover

100x100 sized fun )

THE OFFICE AIRS IN 24 HOURS. HOLD ME.
hjea: (pd-chuck and the red dress)
BAM! My Pushing Daisies DVDs arrived. :DDD

*flail*

And the bonus features are just solidifying the idea in my mind that Bryan Fuller is a big goofball... and that I really, really love Lee Pace. Upon asking the obvious "who's the better kisser, Anna or Kirsten?" question, we get this little gem:

LEE: blushing like a blushy thing There's never an easy way to answer that question.
BRYAN: Yeah, but it's an AWESOME question.
LEE: blushes more

I AM GOING TO STEAL HIM, AND HE WILL BE LOVELY, AND YOU GUYS CAN ALL COME VISIT AND WE WILL EAT PIE.

Little thing )

...Hmmm... *wonders if I can fit in a little pie-making before class*

Oh, and in celebration of Talk-Like-a-Pirate-Day (the best non-sensical holiday ever) have my favourite pirate joke:

How much did it cost the pirate to have his ears pierced?
--- A buccaneer! (Buccaneer - 'buck an ear' - get it??? Bwa ha ha!)
hjea: (pd-dandylion!five)
AWWW. *FLAILS* NED AND CHUCK! SEASON TWO! (spoilers) SO. FREAKING. CUTE.

I am really, really excited. I'm also considering giving up on all somewhat angsty television this fall (this has nothing to do with Robin Hood, no sirree) and just watching Pushing Daisies, and Chuck and How I Met Your Mother and revelling in unabashed goofiness and fun and saying POOH POOH to anyone trying to make me miserable via my tv screen. SO HA! Pies and spies and high fives. That's the future for me. :D

(And also The Office. Hobviously. And maybe Bones if it's good to me. Um, hey wow, look at my resolve go.)

We got back from the cottage yesterday (I am sunburnt, mosquito bitten, bruised and very happy) and then went to my cousin's babyshower last night, and then this morning went out to breakfast with the grandparents, cousins, uncles and aunts for the big farewell before we're all off to our various universities. And now, needless to say, I'm a bit family'd out. Looking forward to getting back to my nice quiet apartment on Tuesday. But in the meantime, I'm going to try and see some friends, hopefully arrange some kind of Nerd!fest for tonight, and enjoy my few days left in Toronto.

And hey! The sun just came out! No more rain!

Nice.
hjea: (pd-dandylion!five)
I've been such a spaz with the Youtube lately, I know.

BUT PUSHING DAISIES SEASON TWO TRAILER, OMG.

I think I can safely report that everyone looks to be as OMG!HAWT as they did last year. ;) October couldn't feel further away.
hjea: (pd-b/w ned and chuck are effing pretty)
More news on the Ned and Chuck prophylactic affection front: Season two spoilers. )

Full article.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR OCTOBER 1ST.
hjea: (pd-olive 'hey there')
Watching Pushing Daisies scenes on Youtube? TOTALLY a good use of an evening! OH, I MISS MY SHOW.

(And it's kinda amazing how, even though it's been months, watching "Corpsicle" still manages to break my heart into tiny little ice-shard bits. And then it makes me laugh for ten minutes. And then it's back to the heartbreak. And that's after only nine episodes! NINE! Can you imagine what a full season of Pushing Daisies would be like? + Twenty episodes! Twenty episodes of Ned! NEXT YEAR! *SWOONS*)
hjea: (pd-dandylion!five)
In the same vein as "interesting things existing on my windowsill right now" (*pats Mr. Smith and Sarah Jane*)...

CUP-PIES FTW!!!!!!!!!!

My thought process, let me show you: )

And once again, I was left more proud of my baking then I probably have the right to be. ;)

So that's it! I'm probably going to go and Youtube the heck out of Ned and Chuck now. Have a great day!
hjea: (robin hood-robin/marian forest!otp)
Here's the drabble requests I wrote yesterday. Reposting here for my ever important posterity. ;)

For [livejournal.com profile] xtinethepirate Pushing Daisies; Ned/Chuck; So near, so far )

For [livejournal.com profile] goldy_dollar Doctor Who; Doctor & Donna; post-Turn Left )

& For [livejournal.com profile] ninamazing Robin Hood; Robin/Marian; oranges )

Other things:
-I started reading a book on Elizabeth Bathory, which is dark and gruesome and really, really interesting. Makes me really want to see Anna Friel in the film Bathory now.
-[livejournal.com profile] goldy_dollar wrote Doctor/Rose reunion fic! Soon to be Jossed, but very much enjoyed by me. I really don't think it's fair of Saturday to take so long getting here.
-I have an interview tomorrow! For a volunteer position. So, er, the kind that doesn't pay you. But hey, it's something, right?
-I may be late to the party on this, but how awesome and self-indulgent is Wordle? You make pretty graphics out of your writing! Lookee, I made one for the drabbles. Such fun. ;)
hjea: (pd-chuck and the red dress)
You know it's been months since I've posted about Pushing Daisies, and that is a depressing thought. I'm pleased as punch that some of my favourite shows, like The Office and Battlestar and Doctor Who, are all coming back within the next month, but there's not going to be any new NED and CHUCK and OLIVE and EMERSON and DIGBYYYYYYYYY! until next fall, and it's just a hard wait.

SO WATCH THIS INTERVIEW WITH ANNA FRIEL AND LEE EFFING PACE. It'll make you feel better. ;D

ANNA: "I first of all loved the fact that my character was called Chuuook [I'm trying to approximate her awesome Northern accent, bear with me]. I was like: 'I wanna play a girl called Chuuook!' It doesn't sound quite as good in
American with the whole Chuck [she switches to her American accent here and even does a tiny ditzy hair flip... 'cause she's awesome]. I like my 'uuoo'."
LEE EFFING PACE: "Heh heh heh!"

ANNA: "We've got adjoining trailers so we'll get the scripts at the same time - actually the hair and make-up people get them first-"
L.E.P.: "-And we steal them."

ANNA: "It's driven very strongly by a love story, of a romance of two people who just long to be together... [she looks into the camera] and long to be able to have sex but they never will be able to!! [looks at L.E.P.] ...Together."

L.E.P.: "Kristin Chenoweth plays the waitress at the Piehole"
ANNA: "She's wonderful."
L.E.P.: "She's wonderful, a great schemey, fun character-"
ANNA: "And she's got great breasts!"

So yeah... it's a pretty fun interview. ;) And they both look gorgeous, even if I think facial hair is not such a good look on Lee effing Pace, but that may be because I'm horribly biased towards Ned and his fluffy hair, and kicked puppy faces and heart-melting smiles and... *ahem*.

This of course then inspired me to skedaddle over to Youtube to watch a whole slew of my favourite PD-moments, like our first emotional heimlich scene, and the cellophane, and "What do you need to be happy?" (which, how it manages to shake utter!cheesy and become absolutely perfect, I'll never know, but I'm glad it does) and a certain heart-breaking scene from the last episode at Christmas (*sniff*) that I apparently don't have the self-control not to transcribe.

But I will perform a small mercy and put it behind a cut )

I have done two and three quarters of the five essays I have due by the fourth. I really need a fast-forward button. Or someone to give me an emotional heimlich. I think I'll go get one now.
