This is one of the best things that has happened on my television.

hjea: (bh-worlds gayest ninjas)
Okay, I might be the last person to see this, but BEING HUMAN SERIES TWO PREVIEW, WHAT!

*handflaps* GEORGE!
hjea: (chuck-group hug of awesome)
Okay. This might be my favourite Chuck(/Winter Olympics/Honda) commercial to date. :D

hjea: (misc-it's not conceited right?)
Last paper of the term handed in! I'M FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hjea: (chuck-group hug of awesome)
Hey, you guys remember that (totally awesome) little show called Chuck? WE HAVE AN AIRDATE, JANUARY 10th, BOOYAH!!!!!!!

Aaaaaaand here's a preview:

hjea: (office-couldn't wait)
Damn it, Jim.

I am so getting suckered in.
hjea: (misc-shakespeare)
I miss going to live theatre; I haven't been very often since highschool. Finally got myself to Shakespeare by the Sea last night--we saw a pretty good show of Macbeth. Points to the Witches who were extra, extra creepy. And to Lady M who was, as with most productions, fabulous. It's not my absolute favourite Shakespeare, but it did remind me of one of my favourite scenes from Slings and Arrows. Geoffrey is working with a group of corporate suits, ostensibly teaching them Shakespearian managerial techniques, but really just fucking around with some text.

Really, how can one not fall in love with Geoffrey Tennant? How??? ;DDD
hjea: (robin hood-robin/marian forest!otp)

So not having watched Robin Hood at all this season, I really wasn't up to date on any of the news, and not really looking to BE up to date on the news anyway, but [livejournal.com profile] vhari was just kind enough to point out that someone has uploaded the series finale to Youtube, and wouldn't you know it, BUT MARIAN MAKES AN APPEARANCE.

In non-spoilery palette-wetting: Lucy Griffiths looks good. Really good. Especially her hair. It is fabulous. I bet Marian and Kahlan sit around fandom!space talking about how awesome their hair is ALL THE TIME. ALL THE TIME.

I have my own fun. ;DDD
hjea: (bones-squint squad)
Many thanks and firstborns to [livejournal.com profile] maidm for pointing me to this video. Ryan Cartwright (aka Mr. Nigel-Murray of Bones intern fame) singing about his desire to be Darth Vader.

Believe me when I say CHEPIC.

I really need a Mr. Nigel-Murray icon now.
hjea: (life on mars-sam and annie)
Okay so. Sam/Annie are MEGA OTP, and fandom is dumb for not agreeing with me.

Yeah, rewatched some Life on Mars today (1x05, the one with the football) and now I'm clearly revisiting my slash anger issues. But mainly I don't get it. Because... just watch this scene. They are 100% adorable, and 100% totally into each other.

SEE? Yes. I win, fandom. ;) Now I'm gonna channel my energy into my current fervid desire: Please get Liz White on A2A this season, please get Liz White on A2A this season, please get Liz White on A2A this season... IT WOULD BE AMAZING! Then Annie and Gene could argue about their Sam!pain. And then Annie could show off her wee Sam babies and shurrup, they totally had babies, okay yes, that's just how I roll with my OTPs.

Either way, I'll leave you with a rec of one of my favourite Life on Mars fics: [livejournal.com profile] _starrystarry's I think I made you up inside my head.

He lolls his head back. If he were to make up a woman she wouldn’t be this far ahead of him.

(He’s starting to think that if he were to make up a woman though, she would be Annie Cartwright, so he’d better start catching up.)

(Random aside, I also rewatched BSG's "Valley of Darkness" [I know, it's clearly been a very productive day] and may I just ask: best episode ever? It's at least gotta be in the top five. It has almost all my favourite things. And now I need to fit in a BSG season two rewatch somewhere in my life.)
hjea: (bbc-clenham: lookit the faaaaaaace)
This may only be of interest to me (and quite possibly [livejournal.com profile] ohvienna), but I had a serious nerd!moment in my modern poetry class today. We have to write a discussion piece on William Carlos Williams' poem, "This is Just to Say". And I may have mentioned that Matthew McFadyen does a REALLY SEXY READING of it on Youtube.

My prof seemed excited.

*loves on university today*
hjea: (lots-an undoing (aka voyeurism ftw))
Yes. I'm still talking about it.

Legend of the Seeker - 1x13 - 'Revenant' )

Definitely a better use of my time than school work. *G*

*drums fingers*

So where's the fic, guys?
hjea: (misc-beatrice: taming my wild heart)
I missed the library! The public library. The school library I see enough of.

But taking reading week at it's name, I made my resolution to get as much reading-for-fun done as I can this week. So I spent a couple hours at the library this morning, came away with a good stack of books, and then had another couple hours at Second Cup, sipping lattes and reading Ursula Le Guin short stories and having a damn good time! And I just ate pancakes for dinner and am now thinking happy thoughts about pajamas and maple syrup comas. :D

The only (minor) damper on my very fine day is, that while I was scrolling Youtube for Oscar highlights, I found a Robin Hood video (you know how Youtube searches can get... tangential) entitled "Marian breaks Guy's Heart" which was, you guessed it, the scene where he kills her. ARG! This really shouldn't bother me, but it still does. BECAUSE THE LOGIC IS THAT MARIAN BREAKS GUY'S HEART, SO REALLY HE'S WELL WITHIN HIS RIGHTS TO KILL HER?! GAWD.

Thank goodness I have an LJ to rant about these kind of things. ;) *head!desks fandom*

But I shall move on to happier things now, and read more books. I got Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures out which I started reading a couple years ago but never finished but now I shall and HA HA! (Yes, it's weird how reading novels without any expectation of analysis feels kinda devious. Gotta love university. *G*)
hjea: (lots-stop: it's seeker time)
So Legend of the Seeker episode 12 was ... )

Which leads me to talk about spoilers and speculation about the 1x13 promo )

Since the world is still spinning merry-go-round-like thanks to my wicked case of vertigo, I mostly sat around on my butt today. Finished a book (The Merlin Conspiracy. I &hearts Diana Wynne Jones and her crazy, crazy worlds), watched some of Our Mutual Friend again (which I've decided is definitely the Dickensian story of two awesome women, and three really creepy men), and, because I'm super cool, knitted a sock for Kermit 2.0

In't he sweet?

If I was smart, I would probably start thinking about what kind of school work I should get done this break but... I'm really rarely smart about these kind of things. Mmm... *stretches*... reading week. :D
hjea: (dr horrible-slipping)
Just got back from watching Commentary: The Musical with [livejournal.com profile] xtinethepirate. And oh my, Joss. Oh my, Nathan and NPH. OMG EVERYONE WHO HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THAT BECAUSE &hearts &hearts &hearts &hearts &hearts &hearts

It's like a nerd orgasm in a DVD case. I mean... a lot of nerd orgasms come in DVD cases, but, um, this one especially. It's the big one. (twss?)

ANYWHO, then spent an enjoyable amount of time on Youtube watching the How I Met You Mother cast sing, and Xtine, silly person that she is, has yet to watch the show. But I'm pretty sure I've fixed that now, thank you very much Robin Sparkles. AND THEN moved on to watching clips from The IT Crowd, but that apparently gets into the sceptical "okay now, Heather" territory of Youtube viewing.

hjea: (bbc-mr clenham and his hat)
You know that point in the term when your nerves have become so frayed that suddenly everything seems funny? Yeah. I spent half an hour loitering outside a church the with three other people, considering whether we could choir crash the Bach concerto going on. (As an example: THEM "Which section are you?" US "Er... the middle one?") It was cold, there was ankle-high snow, it was really stupid and not funny and we were giggling like a pack of maniacal hyenas on laughing gas. Thank you, university.

Also, I know there's only six days between one episode of Little Dorrit and the next, but it is still too fracking long!!! I have a Mr. Clenham addiction and I need my fix. Thus I spent far too much of the day I should have been doing work compiling Arthur/Amy scenes from the episodes that have aired so far. A waste of time maybe, BUT I ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE.

The BBC: Giving what tattered shreds of my sanity remain something to focus on since 2005. I should really update my Great Miniseries Review list sometime soon. Though maybe I'll wait until the term is actually over.
hjea: (misc-maple leaf)
I'm a little late on this, but Happy Thanksgiving, fellow Canadians! Everyone else, I hope you had a great weekend. Maybe even with pie. You never know. ;)

Anywho, I had a really nice night with the roommate and her family and friends, and now am full of turkey and pie and ice cream and wine and I think it's time for bed. :D

But I'll leave you with the (true story!) of Canadian Thanksgiving, as told by one of our hotter compatriots, one Robin Scherbatsky.

Lots of reasons, Barney. LOTS of reasons. ...But mainly hockey. *G*

Happy Holidays, everyone! &hearts
hjea: (chuck-a spy and her nerd)
The first episode of Chuck's season two is up a week early on Hulu now. Yay. I love a little sexy spy comedy. And besides being still funny and sweet and really, really cool, there was one part of the new episode that really stuck out for me.

Chuck vs. The First Date )

Of course, now that I've watched this episode early, I'm going to have to wait two weeks for the next episode to air. And patience is not my virtue. Darn.
hjea: (office-pam holding happiness in)

So... is that Jim/Pam out-making I see? UM WHY YES IT IS !!!! (Also, more general Office awesomeness) But Jim and Pam make outs! At art school! IN NEW YORK.

Wikka wikka wikka what!
hjea: (robin hood-whee hug time!)
Been a couple days - unusual for my August posting frenzy this year. Still, I'm back in Toronto, lounging, reading Calvin and Hobbes books and generally basking in my family's attentions. When they're, you know, here. They all seem to be out right now. Oh well!

Later this afternoon, the sister and I are going to the ROM (free students day, FTW!) which should be fun, huge museum geek that I am. If anyone's interested, there was a really good article in the magazine Toronto Life (which, sorry I can't find a link for), talking about what's gone wrong with the ROM's new reno (aka the huge crystal monstrosity that sticks up awkwardly out a beautiful turn-of-the-century stone building and that makes up for it with poor layout, crappy workmanship and a really horrible use of space for the exhibits.) Er... I have many Opinions about the ROM these days. ;)

I'm still deep into my Robin Hood renaissance, which is, despite my reassurances (mostly to myself) that I'm not bitter anymore, I think more like a strange version of masochism than anything else. I'll be sitting there, really enjoying an episode for its cheesy goodness, when suddenly I remember: "Oh, except it's all for nothing because then they kill Marian." (I never think of Guy as killing her. It's always "they" - writers, producers, showrunners, etc. Strange that.) And then I watch another episode. The ending of "Who Shot the Sheriff" gave me a big lump in my throat. (Watch the end.)

Marian, watching the villagers crowd around Robin in gratitude.
MARIAN: He has to have the glory, doesn't he?
MUCH: Glory? Nah. I think he just wants to be loved.
And then Robin catches Marian's eyes and they smile at each other. AND THE MUSIC SWELLS AND THE PICTURE GOES BLACK AND WHITE AND SEE? IT KILLS ME.

Robin Hood was so lovely. Okay, and uber cheesy and silly, but it was all part of its charm. I don't know why they'd give all that up just to be "shocking".

Anyway, the sun is out, and I should probably go enjoy the outside space while I have it. Toronto is unbelievably green and pretty right now, but I feel a little bad for all the rain they've had to endure to get it that way. But it is also kinda exciting! All the thunderstorms - we don't really get them in Halifax. And I get dirty looks for saying that around my family.

But one more thing: [livejournal.com profile] otahyoni linked to this first, and I just... er... wanted to too. ;) New Office Commercial: Dwight's Olympic Centathlon!. Epicly good. *G*
