Dollhouse - 1x03 - Stage Fright

OOH, WHAT'S GOING ON, EH?

- I didn't enjoy that quite as much as last week: the main singer-has-a-death-wish plot was fairly ho-hum. But I'm still loving all the hints we're being dropped about the overarching plot.
- Paul! Whose plot I'm really invested in! Has three guys try to kill him but he's all "HIYAH!" And then they shot him which is totally cheating, and he STILL kicked butt. And then he's all lonely in the hospital because the FBI won't let his neighbour see him.
- And speaking of his neighbour, I know some people were speculating that she was a doll, but hello misdirect--it's Victor! (I mean, I suppose she still could be, but I'm thinking that he's the one the Dollhouse is using to keep an eye on Paul.) I really enjoyed their scene together, so I'm looking forward to more.
- And Boyd and Dr. Saunders! The more I like them, the less I like Topher, but I appreciate his quips about their scowly babies. ;) And when I say I don't like Topher, I mean I enjoy his scenes and really like the role he plays on the show, but I don't like him. As a person. And I'm really starting to hope that we're not supposed to.
- ECHO SHOOK HER HEAD. AND THE QUESTION I SEEM TO BE LEFT WITH EVERY WEEK: WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN???

And now I'm going to feel slightly jealous of all the people watching BSG right now.

ETA: And BSG just kicked my ass. From one end of the room to the other. Thanks a lot, RDM. You giant mother frakker.

Word, to pretty much all of that. Hints and Paul and Topher and all of it.

(When Langton told Doc Acker she could call him Boyd, I may have shouted, "MAKE OUT!" at my TV, causing my sister and friend to give me disturbed looks. Whatever. It's Fox. They're all about the sex. Which is why NO ONE WAS WEARING CLOTHES THIS EPISODE.)

THOSE WERE MY THOUGHTS! We should celebrate, and ignore all the disturbed looks that come our way. ;)

I ... agree wholeheartedly with everything. OH YOU. ♥

My sister is developing a giant crush on Topher, so in solidarity I have to play along a bit. But while I find him hilarious (and a snappy dresser :P ), he's certainly not someone I'd have as a close friend. No sir.

Another thing that struck me this week is that SHAWNA TRPCIC IS THE BEST COSTUMER EVER. I want to have sex with like every outfit on this show. And they are all so perfect, character-wise. ALSO TAHMOH'S SUITS. SUITS. SUITS. SUITS.

That was some really black despair there in the hospital. Paul ... definitely listens to Snow Patrol. ;) BUT THAT GIRL DRIVES ME CRAZY WITH HER OPENING THE DOOR EVERY TIME THERE ARE FOOTSTEPS IN THE HALL. JESUS CHRIST, EVEN I WOULDN'T DO THAT IF TAHMOH LIVED NEXT DOOR TO ME. WHERE IS HER SELF-RESPECT? IF SHE'S NOT A DOLL, I WILL BE REALLY UPSET BECAUSE THAT IS JUST PATHETIC.

Yeah, it's the same with me. I enjoy his scenes, but the more he says things and supports the Dollhouse and brags about his genius and this, that, and the other thing, the more I'm: "Dude. You're kind of... banally evil."

THAT GIRL DRIVES ME CRAZY WITH HER OPENING THE DOOR EVERY TIME THERE ARE FOOTSTEPS IN THE HALL. JESUS CHRIST, EVEN I WOULDN'T DO THAT IF TAHMOH LIVED NEXT DOOR TO ME.

I know! Last week I thought it was a bit sweet, but now it's moved to pathetic-land. Though maybe she's not a doll, but she's still a spy sent to watch him by his own gov't--or like by a rival group trying to find things out about the Dollhouse. Oooh, maybe she's MI-6! Or former KGB. That would be so much more interesting.

Yeah! FOR A MONTH! Stupid, stupid, stupid, jerkbutt frakker.

I FEEL SO USED. o_0

Yeah! I totally didn't see Victor being a doll!

The thing I like about Topher is that he's a BELIEVER. He's not just there for a paycheck, he actually believes that they are making people's lives BETTER, while also giving the dolls the times of their lives. I don't think that redeems him for his attitude, but it's refreshing at least.

OH TAHMOH! Kicking people's asses left, right and center WHILE SHOT. SWOON. BE STILL MY HEART.

Helo's kick-assery in this ep was awesome. Also, I kind of like his neighbour. I would really like it if she wasn't a spy, because to me she seems like a very real character. It is sort of pathetic that she stakes out in her apartment waiting for him to come home, but I think in a lot of ways that makes her a very Joss-y character. She's far from perfect, but the sort of person you do meet now and then, and obviously well-intentioned.

I am also really liking the character of Topher so far, because of his ambiguous nature and general dickery. He's one of those people who you simultaneously love as a character and really hate as a person.

So far Joss, two thumbs up from me.

Yeah, I can see that about Topher. But, while I am really amused by his scenes, the guy gives me the heebie-jeebies now.

But I could just be comparing every male to Tahmoh now, and maybe that's just too high a standard. ;)

I don't know, the neighbour's just in pathetic-ville for me right now. And while there definitely are people like that in real life, I'd want them to get some help. Maybe a few friends, so that she can still be really nice and considerate of Paul, but in a less semi-stalkery kind of way.

But yes! Character-wise, Topher is really interesting. But I would probably kick him in the shin in real life.

I'm glad you like the show!
