y'all are my peoples

Posting on LJ in a post-tumblr world is surprisingly difficult (going "ooh pretty picture! ooh pretty picture!" is draining okay!) but I going to make an effort to at least post semi-regularly and thus help out the LJ Comments Come Back Tour! And luckily, the kick-off of summer tv gives me something to talk about!

Namely, Leverage:

It's back and it is wonderful. This show is like a happy soul-balming mix of criminals who love each other, hugs, cheesiness, and heartfelt drama; all while also taking aim at the very real world of some very real bad guys. If that's not a win for summer tv than what is?

So in "The Long Way Down Job" we had...

- Everyone looking FLIPPING ADORABLE in their big fluffy parkas. I wanted to hug everyone they all looked so squishy.
- Nate and Sophie being all coy and flirty and only a little awkward after jumping into the sack together. And Nate getting all blustery and obvious about not actually remembering Sophie's real name.
- And of course my favourite duo Parker and Hardison! "This isn't going to become a thing, is it?" But of course it's a thing, it's a them-thing and it is far from normal, but still perfect and precious and... and FEELINGS. And I love it more please.
- Eliot and Hardison. Hugging. ("For morale!") I love it always.
- And then Parker and Eliot making another awesome duo (I love that this show almost always splits off into twos, but it's always different twos and they each work together in different ways and then they all come back together at the end anyway and yes... this is the way to get full use out of a great cast). Their scene in the crevasse with the body was terrific and sad, and mega kudos to Beth Riesgraf for showing Parker's growth and desperation to be like the others in a way that still felt so true to her character. And Eliot's comforting that it had to be the two of them was so oddly sweet and worked for them. Guh. Rambling. But LJ is good for rambling so Imma keep going.
- All of Sophie's worried faces over Nate casually putting himself in danger again--and knowing that whatever she says won't make any difference when he's on a self-destruct like that. And just throwing herself into the con and trusting (hoping) that he'll be all right anyway.
- And then hugging! And a mega-cheesy ending that I still loved. I liked that we didn't get a reveal of who the season's big rival is going to be. Only the bug shows us that our team has made enough waves now that they have any number of enemies ready to bear down. ~~Oooh~~
- "This is like a danger cupcake with murder icing!"
