Huzzuh! I am gainfully employed at Pier 21 (Canada's Immigration Museum) starting tomorrow! Eep! and even though I've been waiting over a month for this, it suddenly seems very sudden. Oh well. I'm sure they'll tell me what my actual job responsibilities are eventually (I'm in "visitor services"). And then they'll give me money! And I can buy pretty things! / Pay for food and rent! Yaaaaaay!

(Oh, and if [livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl or [livejournal.com profile] ohvienna come looking for me, do NOT tell them where I am *g*)

Ahhh, so much real life happenings! It's so distracting! I just got back from a job interview at Pier 21 (CANADA'S IMMIGRATION MUSEUM - the caps are apparently very necessary) which went well I think, so hopefully the summer job thing will be taken care of. I've been out two nights in a row which is ca-razy for me, but what with school drawing to a close and everyone off in all different directions (*sniff*) 'tis the season for partying. I've also got two exams later this week that need studying at some point, the sister is coming down to visit on Friday, a friend of my parents really wants me to fill out an application for Massey College for U of T-bound me so we'll see how that goes, and oh yeah, IT IS GORGEOUS OUT, SUNNY AND WARM, AND I WANT TO RUN SINGING THROUGH A FIELD SOMEWHERE. :DDD

*breathes*

And of course there's always the TV in my life. Tonight's episode of Chuck looks hyperventilatingly good (pleasedontgetcancelledpleasedontgetcancelledpleasedontgetcancelled), ASHES TO ASHES IS BACK, and, most importantly, [livejournal.com profile] sword_of_lies's Desperately Seeking Seeker Kink Ficathon is is full swing, and I have to post at some point because nekkid Richard and Kahlan make my world go round.

How's everyone else doing?

I got a job! I'll be working as a receptionist at the Writing Centre at school once a week, so it's not exactly bringing in the big bucks, but still... money!

And because The Office has irrevocably shaped my expectations of a workplace now, I expect the "Dunder Mifflin, this is Pam" jokes to come rolling in at any time. ;)
hjea: (pd-cellophane FTW!)
Heya. I'm bored, and considering my other option is to actually get out into Halifax and start looking for a job (it's scary! Couldn't someone just find me and give me work?), I thought I'd suggest a round of the two-sentence meme. And because I miss writing. In English. Hee.

Thus, if you'd like, give me a fandom (the regulars, plus Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes now because LOVE) a pairing and/or character and a little prompt, and in return I'll write a few sentences.

Thanks for indulging me! <3

Okay, not really, because I still watch and enjoy the show post-Rose. But on the other hand... it actually is kinda true.

So maybe I shouldn't be so hung up. But here I go anyway.

Rambles of the 'my problem could be solved so easily! *hands Billie Piper a contract for LIFE*' variety )

On a slightly different note - [livejournal.com profile] goldy_dollar and my crossover, Lending a Hand is really ridiculously close to being finished and we've left it for SO long and I really just need to get myself writing. Now.

Oh - and I got a new job. :D

The first thought I had when I woke up this morning was: "Bagpipes". (Stop me if this sounds familiar) Then I rolled over and went back to sleep. Five minutes later, again I think: "Bagpipes". Thirty seconds of forehead scrunching and Morning Brain thoughts, I come up with: "Why are there bagpipes?" But then I just shrug and roll over. Two minutes later it's: "FUCK IT, WHY ARE THERE BAGPIPES PLAYING OUTSIDE MY WINDOW BECAUSE IT'S NOT THE LONG WEEKEND YET AND NOW I'M FULLY AWAKE, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!"

Then I got up and had Quaker oatmeal and felt much better about my day. Plus, Random Bagpiper had disappeared from earshot. Heh heh heh.

Anywho, after that INTERESTING anecdote dote I'm sure, and some other nonconsequential morning-like affairs (shower, dressing, morning internet surfing), I finally got to go downtown and sign my lease today! Yay! It's official! Moving into new place on september first. The property manager was really nice, (though I'm sure that it didn't hurt that I was handing her a lot of money, and signing a piece of paper promising here I would keep giving her a lot of money at the beginning of each month) and she gave me a welcoming package (with notes like: please don't leave the oven on and burn down the building, plzkthnx) AND an information package about the student deals and discounts the company has with Aliant.

In my mind was: "OMG, YES!!!!!! CHEAPER PHONE AND INTERNET FOR MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!"
I said outloud: "Mmm... oh yeah, that sounds quite good."

On my way back up Spring Garden, I found Random Bagpiper had relocated to the engineering campus and was serenading the people there. But considering it was now 1:30 in the afternoon as opposed to 8:30 in the morning, they were being a little more appreciative than I was.

Then I went to the library (public, not school) found one Tracy Chevalier book that I wanted, found out they didn't have her newest one (alas), and also took out some of the Classical Kids CDs that I used to LOVE as a little me, because I was feeling nostalgic and I'm dorky like that so sue me. Plus I got to go in the kids section, and it was full of kids and their parents, getting all excited about books, and I love that because it makes me feel like the world is a good and marvelous and hopefull place to be after all. Libraries are wonderful places.

Finally meandered my way home, with a pit stop to Tim's for an ice cap (because it's lovely and hot and sticky outside, so I don't care how many calories are in them). Walked back through the public gardens, admired the duckies swimming ever so sweetly, briefly considered jumping in myself, and then finally got home.

And turned on my fan.

Which is cooling me ever so nicely as we speak.

*pats it*

And that's it!

Heh heh. So it's funny what can change in 24 hours.

In the span of time since my little mini-freak last night, I've managed to land a job and an apartment. I know! This morning started off with a simple trip to the local comic book store so that Roommate #3 could check out the D&D stuff (yes, I love with nerds too) and I could finally pick up Buffy #2. Simple start, right? Well, then I decided to go downtown and drop off my rental application to the apartment I decided. Just in case anyone's remotely interested, it's this building.

So that done, I slowly trundled my way back up Halifax's STEEP hills (stopped at the halfway point for lunch at Tim's) and figured that was going to be the extent of my exciting day. WELL, Roommate #3 wins today, because her job at Canadian Tire called and apparently someone in her dep't was fired and she gave them my name and I went in for an interview and before you knew it, I was hired! At Canadian tire! So, not my first choice of employment, but I'm going to keep looking and at least in the meantime I'll be paid. Yay! I can go grocery shopping!

AND THEN, when I got home, I got a call from the rental company. All they need is my roommate's co-sign agreement (this hint is for YOU, [livejournal.com profile] robyn1221) and we can get the apartment! YAY!

So all's said and done, today has managed to relieve all the forseeable stress I will have from now until September. Fantastic.

AHHHHHHHH! I need a job! Apartment is one step closer (found a place, it's pretty, it's a good price, now I just need to get accepted!) but it's still so stressful! GAH!!!!!!!

I thought summer's were supposed to be relaxing. Oy frelling vey.

And oh yeah, highlight of the day: Recognized someone on What Not to Wear. Don't know if that's a new low or...Nah, for the most exciting part of my day, it's a low.

:( Pity me?
