[livejournal.com profile] ninamazing, thank god I have someone to throw all my flaily emotions around with. &hearts

You know, I go back and forth between liking Jacob's recaps over at TWoP, and being really annoyed by his esoteric BS, but this week? HE JUST VALIDATED ALL MY FEELINGS ABOUT THIS STUPID EPISODE. IT'S AWESOME. TERRIBLE, BECAUSE OF THE STUPID, BUT... LET ME QUOTE THINGS AT YOU:

I can overlook the fact that projection has never behaved this way before -- the Vancouver condo with all the natural light puts it closer to the Gaius/Caprica/Angel shit -- and the Boomer stuff is sort of tightly ironic, given that the show started in the first place with Athena pretending to be Boomer. But the fact that her heel turn -- and random cruel rapey Helo-fucking -- basically comes down to the umpteenth fracking Hera Amber Alert? ... Or the brutal rewriting of having Helo (and Hera, for that matter) suddenly unable to recognize who his wife is and is not, i.e., basically to accomplish something that Chief was able to pull off with Boomer last week despite not having seen her in years?

THIS. *FLAIL* JACOB, YOU'VE MOVED BACK INTO THE MASSIVE LOVE.

AND SHOW, I MAY LOVE YOU AS WELL, BUT THIS FRAKKING INCONSISTENT--NAY, UTTER LACK OF EMOTIONAL STORYTELLING AND CONTINUITY IS JUST NOT. GOOD. TELEVISION. CAN YOU JUST GO BACK TO BLOWING THINGS UP AND FLYING VIPERS AND HAVE THIS SHOW GO OUT WITH A BANG? THREE EPISODES LEFT. STOP PLAYING THESE SHITTY MANIPULATIVE GAMES WITH US.

Oh, good point.

Umm, I'd probably be just as upset if I watched, but let me just say that I'm really quite sorry for you. *hugs*

Aw, thank you. <3

I'm really fine with it. My biggest beef is not actually with the story itself, but in the way it was executed. It just threw out a lot of continuity about the characters. If they had bothered to find a way to make it a little more believable, then I think I would be shocked and excited, instead of just mildly pissed.

I AM SO EPICALLY GLAD I HAVE YOU TOO. *clings*

I literally have not stopped thinking about this all of today and I feel completely pathetic. BUT IT IS SO DISAPPOINTING.

And yeah — JACOB, WELCOME BACK! ♥

Or the brutal rewriting of having Helo (and Hera, for that matter) suddenly unable to recognize who his wife is and is not, i.e., basically to accomplish something that Chief was able to pull off with Boomer last week despite not having seen her in years?

*sobs*

I am trying so hard to fix this in my head and I just can't.

P.S. YOU ARE SO RIGHT ABOUT THE CODE WORD. WHAT THE FRAK. Athena even showed it herself — there are Eights all over the ship, wandering around! You don't see Helo coming up to them every day. Of course, they're not in flightsuits, but STILL. AUUGH.

I know! And now every way I see it, even if they do get Hera back, my couple is pretty much screwed. You don't really find a way around those betrayals. Stupid RDM and his convenient character hacking for "the story".

Also, I miss Lee. What the hell!

I was okay with the episode in general - and am actually really excited that Boomer is apparently teh evil, despite my earlier excitement at her supposed redemption - but the whole Helo-doesn't-recognize-his-wife thing did make me stop and make frowny faces. Maybe because Athena was originally programmed to be as much like Boomer as possible, so Boomer could then, in turn, pass as Athena? (Despite years of completely separate lives to date) and Helo was kind of focused on one thing, and Boomer was where his wife was supposed to be, doing what his wife was supposed to be doing?

I don't know. I don't know. Oh, Agathons.

Boomer being evil, and even stealing Hera I didn't have a problem with as such. I mean--I'm pissed at her, but it's exciting and makes for a good story. It's mainly the sex with Helo that bothered me, because it seems to throw out all the differences they've established about the Eights over the years. Yeah, Athena was supposed to act like Boomer, but they've had WHOLLY different experiences since, and you'd think it would be really obvious to her husband--despite thinking not with his brain. I don't know. Just felt a bit too convenient a contrivance to move the plot along. And I also just really don't want them to break up my Agathons.
