Bones - "A Night at the Bones Museum"
Oh Bones. This was a fun episode. Not really my favourite, but it was about museums, so that made me pretty excited. (And yes, I guess you could argue that all the episodes are about museums as they take place AT one, but... this was better!) Anyway... grant disputes, repatriation, and interns--OH MY! ;)

Heh. You just keep geeking out there, Brennan.

Don't worry. It's not freaking anybody out.

"Eggheads killing themselves over exhibits no one really wants to see."
HEY.
(Yeah, this is actually the sort of thing we spend class obsessing over. How can we make an exhibit, and who's actually going to show up? I'm slightly mollified that Booth thinks the exhibition at the end is super cool, though, so I'm marking it down as a museum win.)

"The King Tut exhibit was immensely popular."
Yup. I'm going next month. :D
(It's going to be a zoo)

"No, they didn't paint those [canopic jars]. They weren't important. It would've been like painting tupperware."
Okay, I doublechecked that and WRONG. WRONGY, WRONG, WRONG, SHOW.

*calcite canopic jars with painted wooden lids. Hieroglyphic text coloured blue. British Museum.
HERE'S SOMETHING THEY DID GET RIGHT.

"I understand your government's concern, but he's safe in our medical legal lab. The low humidity and temperature in the lab are optimum conditions."

Yay, hygrothermographs! (According to my readings, the lab should probably be about 18° C and 45-55% relative humidity for the mummy. And if this is starting to read like procrastination, that's only because it is.)
And, taking a break from museums, let's have Angela's relationship advice for the week. (Otherwise I'm ignoring the Brennan happily going out with some guy because really, show? You're going to pull that now? In season five. Oy gevalt.)

"Brennan, this could screw up the natural order of things. And Booth wishes that you were going out with him."
"Well, I drink with him all the time, but with Andrew there's the potential for sex."
"And not with Booth?"
HA HA, BRENNAN DOESN'T DISPUTE IT. (Yeah, I'll take what I can get.) Also I just want to point out how much I love Angela's facial reactions everytime Brennan comes up with something ridiculous like this. You think she'd stop being surprised, but no. Bless.

(Okay, I know this is television, but for a museum that's nominally the Smithsonian, you'd think they could spring for something better than cardstock in the didactic panels.)
BUT ENOUGH MUSEUM-ING. BECAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY, BONES IS ABOUT THESE GUYS. AND HOW FLIPPING CLOSE THEY JUST CAME TO MAKING OUT, AHHHH!

Cam and Angela? You should smack yourselves for interrupting that. SO CLOSE! Also Sweets is having his fanboy shipper status revoked, but that's pretty much going back to the premiere. ;)

Soon, you two. Gotta be soon.

(I loved that The Mummy inspired Brennan to become an anthropologist. I was all "Me too!" Except I meant the 1999 version. And I meant museum-employee instead of anthropologist. *g*)

YEAH. Like, REALLY, show? REALLY? Booth is BLATANTLY IN LOVE and just WAITING PATIENTLY for Brennan to wake up and realize she loves him too and they give us THAT?! Poor form. *tsk tsk*
Okay, I doublechecked that and WRONG. WRONGY, WRONG, WRONG, SHOW.
Yeah, I had a short Egyptian phase as a kid and even I knew that was wrong.

Hee. <3
(And this is why the dating thing is bothering me! Because they've been having scenes like this or at least TWO YEARS now [and have really amped them up this season], and I don't believe for a moment that Brennan is still that ignorant about her feelings for Booth. Lazy writing, mmm hmm.)

Yeah, I am in no way an expert, but I have SEEN canopic jars before. They're kinda a big deal for the Egyptians. I'm also pretty sure they never stuck brains in them like Cam suggested, but, no use getting pedantic.
The Mummy Icon Strikes Back!

AHAA THIS IS SINCERELY AWESOME! Love love love seeing your degree playing amidst the fandom!
Whoooa, look at the last cap. Are there actually museums in the world that look like that?? Because I want to go to there.
...I could totally watch this show vicariously through you and really enjoy myself. How you you feel about writing it up every week? :P
...I should stop posting at work and just leave the office, it's quarter to 7 already.
Re: The Mummy Icon Strikes Back!
This is so my show. Today in class we talked about even more stuff relevant to this episode. Maybe I should just skip working in a museum all together and just become an advisor for Bones!
(...Nah.)

Er, well, probably there is somewhere. It's a pretty poor display though really. No Egyptian statues actually look like that, and the room's too small. I like the candelabra though!

Oof, that sounds obligation-y. I'll try to keep my squee on, and you can just glean whatever information possible out of that, mmkay? ;P
Old-style-paper effect of icon = museumy, right? A stretch? Yeh, probably :P
(Don't tell anyone, but my Secret Awesome Dream Application Of My Talents is to travel the world redesigning the menus of coffee shops and restaurants for half the usual fee and a free meal! See the world and eat lots of awesome food! Maybe in a combi van? Ja!)

HAHA really? I'll believe anything you tell me.
Oof, that sounds obligation-y.
It does a bit, but revisiting episode recaps is funtiems inducing! I revisited my old Dollhouse and LOTS Ongoing Thoughts posts last night — wish I'd kept up with it, they're actually a pretty fun to recap!
Btw, that spidey sense tingle your feeling is an actual spider. LOOK OUT BEHIND YOOUUUU. :PP
Re: Old-style-paper effect of icon = museumy, right? A stretch? Yeh, probably :P
Heck, it can be! I wonder if this would pay better than working in an actual museum. ;) Your Secret Awesome Dream Application Of Your Talents sounds completely legit and awesome, however! I hope it comes to pass!
I'll believe anything you tell me.
Will you now? Iiiiiinteresting.
Btw, that spidey sense tingle your feeling is an actual spider. LOOK OUT BEHIND YOOUUUU. :PP
Aw, yay! I like spiders. They remind me of Charlotte. *basks in happy childhood literary memories*
