Ha, ha. Oh lord. Okay, based on THIS SPOILER FOR THE OFFICE, I just had to write a little closing scene for my best guess at what will happen.



Talking Head: PAM and JIM stand outside the restaurant. Both look solemn.
PAM: We've--I've been unfair. You know, I love my mom, and I really do just want her to be happy. And if being with Michael makes her happy, then... I will try my best to support them. Really.
JIM [nodding]: We both will.
MICHAEL [offscreen]: Hey, guys!
Michael walks into the frame.
MICHAEL: I thought that went really great, don't you? Pam, your mom is awesome. And super hot for her age.
Pam smiles--only slightly pained.
MICHAEL [cont.]: And just think! If this works out then I'll get to be your baby's grandpa!
Michael bends over and pats Pam's stomach.
MICHAEL: Hello, baby! It's your fun, young grandpa Michael!
Michael bounces out of frame. Jim and Pam turn to camera, panic written clearly across their faces.
PAM [horrified]: OH MY GOD.
JIM: Yeah, we have to break them up. NOW.
END.

Dang! I actually started looking forward to that scene for like a good 45 seconds until the dots finished connecting in my head and focused on the "I just had to write" and "best guess." ...certain parts of my brain work faster than others*.

Relatedly: EW EW EW EW EW, I cannot believe this is really happening in canon reality; I need a semi truck full of Retcon pills shipped from Cardiff immediately in preparation.

*Edit: Also, right up until the second after I posted this, I mixed you up with someone else on my flist and thought you were dollsome. It's spooky how alike people sound sometimes.

Jim: I don't really wanna picture it. But thank you, Pam.
Pam: How do you come back from that?
Jim: Um, you don't, I don't think, come all the way back, you know. Especially working together.
Pam: No, I mean doing that with Michael. How do you come back from that?
Jim: Oh-
Pam: As a human being.
Jim: Yeah, no, I don't think you can.

Oh so true! There is NO GOING BACK, Pam's mum. And now I don't think there will be any going back from that mental image for Pam. Have you seen the promos for Thursday? FREAK. OUT.
