"Really? A wooden duck?" "Mallard."

The Office - 606 - "The Lover"

Absolutely brilliant. I haven't laughed that much over an episode in a WHILE. Almost everyone got their moment to shine, really felt like old times. Conquacklulations, Office writers. :D The short list of things I loved:

"Frank and Beans!"
I sometimes forget what gigantic DORKS Jim and Pam are.

Blind Guy McSqueezy
"The women in my improv class absolutely hate him."

"Conquackulations!"

"It's just like a Bavarian fairy tale. Except this time, the mallard skins the toad alive.
...And of course in this version you lose the whole veiled critique of the Kaiser thing."

"You're messing with me, you did NOT have sex with Pam's mom."
"Oh big time."
"What kind of car does she drive?"
"She drives a green Camry."
"Fuck."

AHAHA. Jim is already the king of reactions, but that was golden.

"JUST TAKE THE PARROT."

I loved Every. Single. One. of Pam's freak-outs. They were amazing! And totally not an overreaction. C'mon people. Michael Scott is sleeping with her mother.

"That could have gone one of two ways, but I NEVER expected her to get upset."

Hey, you want me to give you the chills?"

Whoa. Playground flashbacks, anyone?

:D

Creed tearing up over the aria!

Okay, Pam in the meeting went a leeeetle overboard, but Stanley's reaction here just made the whole thing.

"That is NOT okay, dude."
"Disgusting."
"That's messed up, man."
"You have no sense of boundaries, Michael."
"Yes, thank you! Welcome to my personal hell!"

"Pa-am. How's your day going?"
Ha! Angela's having the best day ever. She is so evil. (Like a hobbit.)

"If you take it back I'll scream."

"Hey, buddy."

"Okay, just to be clear, you're terrible at this. You're not equipped for espionage."

"Say more nice things."
AW.
SPARKLE!HEARTS

Go, DWIGHT! HE IS EQUIPPED FOR ESPIONAGE, AND HOW. Oh how I cannot wait for this shitteth to hitteth that fan...eth.

And finally... fedora.

Yeah. That was the shortlist. *G*

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

STANLEY'S REACTION YES.

WHERE DID THAT FEDORA COME FROM?

My friends were saying Pam was kind of acting like a bitch. Um, maybe, but (a) I have definitely acted like that much of a bitch in my life, multiple times and (b) MICHAEL SCOTT IS SLEEPING WITH HER MOTHER. DDDDD:

Oh, poor Jim. ♥

WHERE DID THAT FEDORA COME FROM?

IT IS A MYSTERY.

Also--yes, Pam was throwing one mega-hell of a tantrum, but I wouldn't really call that being a bitch. Maybe a bit bitchy in the conference room, but I still say deservedly so!

(But she also has the best husband ever, so she'll be okay)

I've actually discovered lately that Pam gets a lot of flack from fandom, and I say poo poo to them, she's my favourite.

Oh, poor Jim. ♥

Hee. Yeah. Have you seen this (http://www.thediabolicalblog.com/) yet?

JIM SWEARING. Oh my God, I had to rewind that at least a dozen times before I could move on. It made me laugh so hard. One of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Not to mention "Just take the parrot," his handwritten warning sign...oh my God, Jim was on fire this week. And THANK YOU for not saying Pam was overreacting. Because, um, no. She was reacting the perfect amount. Open your eyes to her personal hell, people!

Also, EVERYTHING ELSE YOU MENTIONED. I didn't even see Stanley's literal :D face back there; that's awesome. Yay for pictures!

Yeah, I'm STILL grinning like a freak over that. Jim was so on fire. And Pam was NOT overreacting! Heaven knows how much of a tantrum I would be pulling if Michael was sleeping with my mum, and I'm not pregnant. People need to cut my gal a break.

Stanley's literal :D face

HAHA, IT IS A LITERAL :D FACE! Amazing.

Mom and I were in the Public Gardens today, and as we walked by the lake she said "Oh look at the ducks! Wait. Mallards. Oh, we'd better be quiet, then."

OFFICE FANGIRL MOMMY. I thought you'd approve.

And omg, the fedora of uberdouchiness. *SNORT*

Yeah, I watched it with der Mutti too last night. She laughed EVERY time Dwight opened his mouth. Absolutely hilarious in and of itself.

*FANGIRL MOMMY!FIVES*

And the fedora is clearly Ryan's douche crown.

This was The Office at its best. I loved Stanely's reaction (his daughter hated his second wife, yeah? I'm sure that was allllllll too familiar for him). And the swearing, and the fedora, and Creed and well, everything. Awkward and hilarious. And am I the only one who is kind of loving that Jim is turning into Michael? It has proved very entertaining so far.

Ha, I hadn't even thought of Stanley seeing it from that perspective, but you're right. He's probably just enjoying this not being his problem. ;)

Definitely the show at its best. And even if Jim-Michael is absolutely cringe worthy, I'll give it to you that it does make for some entertaining moments.

[identity profile] noblealice.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha ha, I laughed a bunch as well. It was so much fun to watch this week. I loved Kelly's forced "I'm so happy for you both" and Toby being won over by Michael so easily.

I agree that I don't think Pam's outbursts were 'bitchy'. They were completely normal in the context. 1)She's pregnant and dealing with a lot of physical, hormonal and emotional changes 2)she's always been closer with Michael so the idea of her yelling at her boss is not as far-fetched as in other shows 3)Michael Scott. Her Mom. EW.

Pam is my favourite as well and I don't understand how fandom can hate her. I thought they loved her? Or do they just love Jim?

Oh, I completely forgot to include Toby's brief friendship with Michael! Let's just pretend it's up there too. ;)

And thanks for agreeing with me about Pam (I &hearts my flist)! I think a lot of people haven't liked Pam for the past couple of seasons because she's been more assertive, and vocal, and yes, sometimes a bit abrasive (but aren't we all at times?), and I don't get it. Fancy New Beesly! What's not to love?

And I think fandom likes Dwight. Which I get.

Your short list is basically everything.

I have to agree, I've never given up on The Office, but it's been a while since there's been an episode this chock full of funny, love, awesome and squik.
