enough about scotland, let's talk tv!

Flatmate's birthday is tonight, so we are getting ready to hit the town (champagne in hand) but before that happens, I feel it is very important to talk about the FINALE!FEST that happened on tv last night! (Or more accurately for me, the finale!fest that happened at way-too-early this morning.)

+Community

-I... argh. After one of the best seasons for a sitcom... possibly ever? (IDK, but I had a flipping blast with this show) This finale just makes me go blerg.
-There were good things! Troy and his cookie! Troy and his cookie metaphor about his friendship with Abed! ANYTIME SHIRLEY IS BLATANTLY PRO-BRITTA (especially in the washroom, because remember how hard they worked on that? Aww). MY FAVOURITE LINE: "WHAT'S MORE EMPOWERING THAN A WOMAN IN A CROWN?" (Those of you who know what my twitter picture looks like will understand why this is my new motto *g*.) And how smokin' Britta looked as the Trannie Queen. :D :D :D
-But then! Argh, show. I get that Annie/Jeff is very popular with fandom, but I still cannot get over my squick about them (nor do I feel I should). HE IS TWICE HER AGE, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY SHE IS 19, AND--ALTHOUGH A LOVELY PERSON--NOT VERY MATURE AT ALL. Clearly Jeff did not pay attention to Tom Haverford and his How-Not-To-Be-A-Creeper advice re:half your age plus 7 years, and yes, this means that Jeff has failed Tom Haverford's don't-be-a-creeper standards.
-And possibly more than my Jeff/Annie squick, the whole Britta's "I love you" moment just fell flat. Because, yeah, it was totally not about loving Jeff, but more her being an insecure person and getting into a pissing contest with Slater. But I still wanted some acknowledgement of that, and not her "So... what do you think?" Felt OOC to me.
-But who knows what next season will bring. I'm certainly not about to give up on it yet.

+Bones

-I don't really know how I feel about this ender, actually, but it also didn't thrill me. I think it'll be neat to see how the year-jump has changed everyone next season, but for now... well, I feel like this season was building up to something and then it just... didn't deliver.
-AND THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH MR VINCENT NIGEL-MURRAY THIS SEASON, WHAT THE HEY, SHOW.
-And I love how everyone is just leaving Cam alone with some interns. Poor Cam! Show the Empress of the lab some love, people.

+Fringe

-Saved the best for last, though, because how brilliant was that as a finale!?
-Because I feel both DELIGHTED and also AHHHHHHHHHHHHH OH MY OLIVIA, WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO TO YOU???
-And hey, we got some kissy kissy in the middle of escalating awesome and it was awesome, and also delicate and hesitent and lovely, and oh my show, you have stolen my heart and put it in a box and maybe I don't need it back after all.
-Favourite wee scene might have had to be Olivia rescues Walter from the hospital because he was high, and he still knew it was her, and she gave him this adorable exasperated affectionate little grin and Oliiiiiiiivia! :'( Be okay, honey!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Seriously--Anna Torv, ladies and gents. She played against herself and it was incredibly nuanced and tense and fraught. AND SHE WAS PLAYING AGAINST HERSELF.
-And who else thinks that Charlie is going to end up helping our Olivia, because I don't care what universe it is, there is no world in which Charlie Francis is not a stand-up guy.
-Twitter peeps are right. It'll have to be the pudding pops that tip off Walter to Fauxlivia. He needs his Pudding Pop Avenger.
-Astrid bakes her feelings. &hearts

All right, self, time to go do some actual human socializing. BUT STILL COME BACK AT A REASONABLE ENOUGH HOUR TO WAKE UP AND WATCH ASHES FINALE, OMG!

THIS MADE ME LOL IRL!!!!!!! I could go on and on about how much I loved her acting this episode. I was just marveling at the scene when she sees Charlie and you can actually tell that it's Olivia pretending to be Fauxlivia! Just SO GOOD! AL;KBA;KSBG;KSBDGK;JSBDG ILU, TORV!!!

I feel the exact same way about the Bones finale. Like, that's it, that's how you're ending the season? Really?

I'm in a bit of a limbo state, because I can't say I hated it, nor did I love it. I am reserving judgement until I see in what ways this year off will end up changing the characters and their relationships.

Community - word. just squicky. But the crown line was hilarious.

Bones - loved it because of it's potential and it was well acted but they can't spend another season stalling out like they did this season. Gotta move forward now. And I kept saying, "They're leaving Cam!" Next season had better have no Daisy and a lot more VNM. ;)

Fringe - Seriously--Anna Torv, ladies and gents. She played against herself and it was incredibly nuanced and tense and fraught. AND SHE WAS PLAYING AGAINST HERSELF.
I KNOW!! This episode was seriously amazing and I approve the switch to Fauxlivia because it's not a South American country. So much anxiety for our Olivia. I hope she fries Walternate in a blaze of glory on her way back to the right universe.

I'm entirely with you on Fringe, it was amazing and horrifying all at once and left me wanting season 3 now please! Charlie will so be there for Olivia, fab that we get to see him again! I think Peter will guess it's not her in his universe as well, it'll be the eyes. But also how sweet is it that alternate Olivia gets to see her sister and niece? That'll be heartbreaking. Astrid is always awesome.

I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID ABOUT COMMUNITY! Basically I am just going to concentrate on Troy in that episode as he was the shining star.

Bones felt flat to me. I feel like the episode where Booth kissed her and told her that he was a gambler and how he knew she was the one would have made a better season finale. Sweets and Daisy were never a strong point with me but I found myself really invested when Sweets was tempted to cheat and then proposed so when they BROKE UP instead of trying to stay together during a year apart I was just left mute and sad. Is that the show's way of getting rid of Daisy? And yes, I yelled 'what about CAM' at my screen when everyone left.

Watching Fringe was like eating a chocolate cake and then having it punch me in the stomach! It was sooo good and even in the end when it hurt, it was still good but painful as well and AAHHHHHHHH, Olivia better come back and Peter better know Faux!Livia is fake SOON or I might have to smack and bitch and ANNA TORV! DAMN!
