I got mad skillz, yo

Thanks to hours of Supernatural DVDs to keep me on track, and this handy dandy tutorial, I've now finished knitting my first pair of socks!

And yes, I know they're different colours, it's not a colourblind thing. It was personal and artistic choice. Also, I ran out of yellow wool.

I turn out well, don't I? (okay, really bad joke)

~Ooh, gusset~

TA DA! And yes, I also knit that blanket. It's a WIP. A WIP of... seven or eight years. ;)

I think this also illustrates how much I hate doing laundry, as I seem far more willing to knit myself a whole new pair of socks rather than just wash the ones I already have. Oh well!

*wiggles toes*

Next job: Jayne hat for [livejournal.com profile] xtinethepirate. I just need to figure out the math. Fudging gauges can be a real bitch. So math. For an Arts major. Er.

HEEEEEEEE DISCLAIMER SOCKS! That is what they will be known as from now on. Or Lazy Socks, due to your unwillingness to do laundry. Or Supernatural Socks, for obvious reasons.

I think I like Disclaimer Socks the best. ^^. Those are positively brill, darling!

I'm sorry the wool I chose isn't working for you math-wise. Um. Is there a pattern out there with the corresponding gauge size? You should go and beg [livejournal.com profile] scary_lullabies for help... she's a knitting fiend. Tell her I sent you. No worries, she's a crazy fangirl of knittage too. ^__^

Disclaimer socks are win. I like it. Though it's interesting that all my knitting projects seem to get titles now. ;)

And I don't think the wool will be too much of a problem. I just need to actually sit down and figure it out, which I haven't yet. Its the right size for my needles, so it should work out fine. Project for reading week, you know?

Heeeee, I know who the folk are in your icon now. Squee of geekery!

Also, THANK YOU SO MUCHLY for putting the time in to making me a Jayne Hat for Avoiding Canadian Temperatures. I'm sure it will be very canny, and I knows I will loves it.

Is there anything I can do for you in return? I can... um.... knit a square? If you start it for me? Lol, my skillz are limited, but they are at your disposal.

*echoes squee of geekery* I love all things Battlestar and its hot Canadians people in space-ness.

And I wouldn't worry about reparation. You've kept me in chai lattes for months now! I'm happy to share my skillz. (Unless you stop watching BSG. Then all bets are off.)

(Kidding!)

(Well... kinda)

Ooh, very pretty. And colourful to boot. I don't think I could ever getting into knitting. If it involves math then it's not for me.

Just think: if you master the Jayne hat you could sell them on-line and make a fortune. Browncoats seeking Jayne hats is a booming business. ;-)

Thank you! I love bright colours so these socks are quite happyfying for me. ;) And generally I find knitting!math easy, as long as I follow the directions exactly. Again, math genius, thy name is not Heather.

And I think I'd have some competition in the Jayne Hat market. There's about a million patterns out there. I'll just be happy when I get this one lookin' pretty. *g*

OH MAN. At first I thought that you were a newbie to knitting and was really intimidated, because I still can't make socks (or even a scarf and that's just a rectangle)! Then I felt loads better knowing that you've knitted a blanket and I don't completely fail at life. Lurvely socks! I am tres jealous!

Not quite a n00b, no. I have been knitting the rectangles and triangles and semi-succesful hats for a few years, though these were my first pair of socks. But the tutorial (and a tutorial, not a pattern, as in step-by-step, this is how you do everything, look I'll show you with pictures!) was really helpful.

Anyway, thank you! You'll get there some day. ;)

Oh, congrats! I tried my hand at knitting once and it was horrible. But your (WIP) blanket and your socks are tres cute. :)

That gusset pic is for your benefit. Because who else do I know who'd appreciate a good gusset? ;)

P.S. I might come visit you in Wolfville this week. Yay for friends in the valley!

Yay, that's so exciting! FYI, I may be in rehearsal ALL THE TIME, but I'll try and make some space for you.

Yeah, I'm thinking it'll probably be at the end of the week, as then I can get a ride back to Halifax. I'll let you know when I has figured it out. :)
