Hello, lj land! Been a busy week for me (DID I MENTION I'M IN EDINBURGH FOR THREE MONTHS) but in a nutshell it's going pretty spectacularly.

Check out my gallery! (And by "mine" I suppose I mean the gallery I'm doing my internship at but... no, it's mine. *g*)

ISN'T IT PRETTY? And now have a (pretty bad but still impressive) picture of Edinburgh Castle. CASTLE! I HAVE A CASTLE! (Yes, I'm taking possession of everything in Edinburgh. Deal with it, Scotland.)

And now for something completely different, HOW CRAZY AMAZING HEARTCRUSHING AWESOME WAS THE LAST EPISODE OF SEEKER, OMG LJ, HOLD ME.

Totally true! Do you know, the letters mean something? You've got to pay attention to the letters on the trains... or you might end up in Brooklyn. Or something. *cough*

But I'm baaaaaaack! I had an amazing time visiting New York (and Princeton!). We had great weather, lots to see and do, only got vaguely lost a couple times (and it was my mother's fault! I am totally blameless! And a navigator extraordinaire!) -- so all in all a success. And while it is nice to be back at chez parents, I think I'm going to start planning a return trip. Because three days in Manhattan only gives you an idea of what you can do.

Pictures and Rambling )

We didn't end up seeing anything on Broadway, as there wasn't really anything I wanted to go with my mother to, and as we both see a lot of great theatre in Toronto, we decided to save the money for something else. And the NY nightlife was also missed out on. And I only went to about three museums! So yeah. I'm a-going back someday. :D

Today has been a very relaxed, laze-around-in-bed-and-catch-up-on-all-the-tv-I-missed day. Anyone want to talk about BSG? Or Doctor Who?! (Console! *FLAIL*) I'm going to play catch up on the flist, though probably sans commenting, but if there's anything good I missed, definitely point me towards it.

HI EVERYBODY!

I just wanted to make a quick post, because I'm writing from the Apple store on Fifth Ave. We just got to New York early this afternoon from Princeton, and it is crazy! Crazy crazy crazy! Like, who are all these people? But I think I kind of love it. Anyway, just wanted to get that down for posterity. ;)

NEW YORRRRRRRK!
hjea: (pd-it's the gang!)
I'm going to New York tomorrow morning! Far too early, but still...

:DDD

Sunday is officially Heather's Met Day. I can't wait!

*does the happy museum dance*

Because I just finished my last exam and I am done, baby!

YEAH! SUCK IT, WINTER TERM! I'M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whew. Yeppers, I'm all done. Which also means I'm all done my third year... which is somewhat close to terrifying, so I'm just going to slide right on by that to my academic prowess. I've got all but one of my papers back and received three As and two Bs, so overall I'm pretty pleased. I'm most amused by the note I got on the paper I wrote whilst under the rather numbing effects of copious amounts of cold medication, to whit: she said I had some of the best research in the class (ME: whoo hoo!), but that my organization made little to no sense. True enough. Somewhere out there [livejournal.com profile] xtinethepirate is chiming in with a "Because you were hiiiiigh!" ;)

But anyway, despite the absolute work-heavy, soul-suckitude that was this term, I'm actually expecting to come out of it with an improved GPA, so *yays*.

And now I've got tomorrow ahead of me, with breakfast with the friends (who I haven't seen in about a month) and then my final HPV vaccine (yay, no cervical cancer!) and finally some last minute panic!packing and my flight to Toronto! After which there will be relaxing and reading things-not-related-to-school-work, giggling over the awesomeness that is Jim and Pam with my ever-patient mother, and then the exciting New York trip on the first! I haven't even been to the States since I was thirteen (grade eight field trip to Boston - those were good times) so I'm pretty giddy at the thought of all the things I'll get to experience for the first time. And by things to experience, I mean the museums. I am going to stake-out the met like you wouldn't believe.

So with all these plans of excitement and bright and shiny future happenings, I think I'm going to wrap up this post with something pretty brainless. That being a brief discussion of this week's tv. *g*

Done, done, done-ity, done!

EDIT: Okay, in today's livejournal mysteries: Whenever I try to friends lock this entry, it disappears. ([livejournal.com profile] maidm, I'm using your flist as my experiment ground. [now it's there, now it's gone, now it's there, now...] You don't mind, right?) Not that this entry has anything I'm TOO worried about, but it's still frustrating. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

If I claim that I've been travelling (nay, hurtling) through the vortex of time/space, will that get me extra points for my many long and unexplained absences? It will? Sweet. Then yeah, I've totally been hurtling through time and space and it was SOOOO awesome, I just didn't have the time to lj about it.

...

So clearly, I'm getting close to insanity, and clearly that really didn't happen. Let me break down the reality of my last two weeks or so: Cut for excessive wordiness )

And that's about it. In random news, I have of late been hit with a kind of ferved, though I'm sure temporary, obsession with CSI of all things. I know, right? There's not a bit of sci-fi/fantasy content to be seen, but I'm fascinated. I blame the fact that channel 14 shows about five episodes in a row every evening. And the fact that there's a super sekrit romance between two of the characters that no one else knows about. Because you know I could care less about the actual crime stuff.

Has anyone else ever experienced something like this? Care to share any stories about obsessions (however temporary) with things that you wouldn't think would fall even close to your realm of interests?

Mmm... lunch time.
