WHAT A GAME!

And what games, man! It's going to be so weird to have no more Olympics to obsess over after tomorrow. A bit of a relief to be sure (back to our regularly scheduled programmes!) but I've had a really fun time watching the Olympics these last couple weeks. I've had the chance to watch with various family members, with friends, on my own, and with loads of twitter folk! (Which btw, sorry for the constant spamming. *g*) And I've enjoyed it all so much, thank you everyone!

*HUGS*

Now time for the closing ceremonies! Where mah popcorn? I can only hope we're going to get something as epic as the punk rock fiddlers again. ;DDDDDDDDD

(Oh, so apparently Yonge and Dundas has been completely shut down for an impromptu block party. AWESOME!)

Okay. This might be my favourite Chuck(/Winter Olympics/Honda) commercial to date. :D

I just got back from giving blood, and not only did I get my requisite juice and cookies (which is, as we all know, the real reason for giving blood), but they were offering hotdogs as well! Way to step it up a notch, Canadian Blood Services. ;)

The Olympics continues to be good fun. But I'm really hoping that the Canadians will win a medal at some point. Yeah, it's important that everyone's out there, trying their best and forging international bonds, etc. But... just one medal? Please???

This is why the Winter Olympics are more fun for us.

One nice thing about the CBC's Olympics coverage? They don't only show the sports Canadians are participating in. One bad thing about their coverage? They don't only show the sports the Canadians are in. I'm sorry, but there's only so much interest I can feign over two McRandom countries playing beach volleyball for two hours.

(Unless they showed New Zealand coverage. Then I'd be all over that like a bad rash.)

Hey guys, the Olympic Opening Ceremonies are starting!

Yes, there are a lot of issues this year with the games taking place in China (and believe me, the news coverage isn't skimping on bringing them up *waves at Peter Mansbridge*). But at the same time, I've just always loved watching these ceremonies, the show, the international spirit, the pride for the Canadian team. I'm really not a huge sports fan, but the Olympics always seem to go beyond that - I just love the idea that it's something most everyone in the world can enjoy together.

So enjoy them if you're watching them! And happy 08/08/08 otherwise. ;)

ETA: Aw - it's making me sad that Doctor Who isn't in the CBC's fall schedule shows anymore. Remember when Billie and Chris Eccleston did those CBC commercials? Those were the days.
ETA2: Dear lord, they're already showing 'back to school' commercials.
